The Deliver for Good Senegal Campaign is an advocacy approach and movement working to catalyze concrete actions that advance gender equality at the community, county, and national levels through evidence-based and coalition-driven advocacy.

Deliver for Good is a multi-year, evidence-based advocacy campaign bringing together diverse stakeholders to drive progress toward gender equality and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Senegal. We are a powerful network of cross-sector partners and allies – governments, civil society, and businesses – united in a shared commitment to prioritize girls and women across all development efforts.

Data in Senegal reveal both a need and opportunity for progress to be made by investing in girls and women to achieve development targets.

  • Access to Clean Energy:  In Senegal, only 43% of households in rural areas have access to electricity, and girls and women are disproportionately impacted by energy poverty.
  • Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights under Universal Health Coverage:  Since 2016,  only 26% of Senegalese girls and women have obtained and used a form of modern contraception.
  • Education87.3% of girls are enrolled in school, with certain counties having a much lower gross enrollment rate due to early marriage, pregnancy, and domestic work.
The Deliver for Good Senegal Campaign is convened by Réseau Siggil Jigéen (Siggil Jigéen Network) and Energy 4 Impact (powered by Mercy Corps). Working across issues and sectors, these organizations are collaborating together and shaping an advocacy agenda, grounded in the Senegalese context, and policy priorities that will drive progress for girls and women across the country.

Informed by an in-depth policy analysis, coalition partners collectively defined a series of evidence-based policy recommendations to mobilize gender equality advocates and drive concrete changes for girls and women at the community, county, and national levels. These include:

  • Add to the evidence base on issues of gender and energy for informing political and programmatic investments in the sector.
  • Engage financial institutions, donors, and state agencies with the goal of increasing investments in women as producers of energy and in girls’ and women’s access to clean energy.

Girls’ and Women’s Access to Education

To deliver on this vision, the Deliver for Good Senegal partners have outlined a range of impact oriented advocacy activities to guide our collective action over this multi-year campaign.  This advocacy plan builds on the strengths of partners and existing initiatives led by key stakeholders, while connecting community and national levels gender equality and SDG efforts, to the global sphere.
